The Puppy Academy 

 

At the KHDT Puppy Academy we offer 12 week classes at Bronze, Silver and Gold Level all of which include a private 1 hour 121 training session at the farm.

 

We are looking for motivated people who want to join our supportive and fun dog training community where relationships with our dogs are just as important as the result we get from training. We use fair, science backed, modern, ethical methods involving rewarding dogs for good behaviour and setting them up for success. If you don't want to learn about dog psychology or you believe that dogs should just do something because you told them too, this course might not be for you. 

 

These courses have a high ratio of trainers to puppies and are designed to not only kickstart your puppies training but to see you through the difficult teenage phase dogs experience where their behaviour regresses. As behaviourists working on more complex behavioural issues with adult dogs, we know that prevention is better than cure and that nipping puppy and adolescent problems in the bud quickly prevents them from becoming long term issues. The KHDT Puppy Academy was created with all this in mind!​

Weekly Q & A's will cover queries such as; 'How can I stop my puppy biting?', 'How do I toilet train my puppy?',  or 'How do I stop my puppy from jumping up, stealing and chewing?'.

​

Your private 121 training session included should be booked at least two weeks before the start of the course and will be held at the farm. We have an office where you can bring unvaccinated puppies to visit us. 

​

These courses take place in our private secure fields in Matfield, not far from the A21.

 

Graduates of Puppy Academy GOLD Level will receive a lifetime 10% discount on all our services as well as a certificate, rosette and trophy.

Teens Bootcamp 8 week Class: for dogs 6 months - 2 years 

 

 

Suddenly your adoring, sweet cute puppy has morphed into a monster!

​

No longer responding to cues you know they know like recall? Having a confidence crisis? Pulling on the lead to say hello to every dog? Or barking at random things?

 

Don't worry, it's normal! You should expect a regression in your dog’s behaviour post 6 months old. As dogs mature they become more interested in social interactions outside their immediate family, they have a greater desire to range further to explore their environment and they may develop new fears or other quirks.

Learn why this change happens and how to nurture and train your dog during this challenging time so that you both emerge better and stronger than before. 

 

This class is suitable for those new to our training classes or whom have had a significant break from classes. We are looking for motivated people who want to join our supportive and fun dog training community where relationships with our dogs are just as important as the result we get from training. This 8 week course will be tailored to meet the needs of each group and will include:

*Please note that if your dog has an established reactivity issue (barking and lunging at other dogs, cars or people for example, then you need to book a private assessment session before booking this course as 121 training may be more appropriate for some dogs)
